Virtus International Para-Equestrian Competition (Video)

October 1, 2020

The next Virtus Para-Equestrian Video Competition for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities is set to take place fall 2020. Entry will remain open until October 2020 in order that riders who cannot currently access their facility may take part – please prioritize the safety of riders at all times.

As the US Member of Virtus, we launched the Athletes Without Limits Equestrian Program in 2017 to organize and assist US Equestrians interested in participating. Because this is still a developing sport for US athletes we recommend all interested athletes and/or their Equestrian coaches contact us for further discussion about Equestrian opportunities, coaching and the upcoming video competition.

Eligibility (Eligibility Deadline July 15, 2020):
Athletes must have a minimum National Level Virtus eligibility to enter. US Athletes who have not already done so should complete our National Athlete Eligibility Application (Application fee is $50). The deadline to apply for Virtus eligibility in time for this event is July 15, 2020 but we recommend sending your eligibility application as early as possible.

Dressage Test/Skills Required:
Eligible riders are expected to perform the following:

Equestrians interested in competing internationally who are riding independently at the walk, trot and canter and have reached proficiency in dressage OR an equestrian sport other than dressage should contact us to develop a plan for transitioning into Virtus dressage competition.

At the local, regional, and national levels, Athletes Without Limits Equestrian Program’s goal is to develop competitive opportunities for US equestrians that include a variety of disciplines and skill levels.

Entry Details for US Athletes: (US Video Entry Deadline is October, 1 2020)
Closer to the October Event Deadline Athletes Without Limits will post an online entry form with details about how to enter and submit your video.

The entry fee is $75, plus $50 eligibility fee for new athletes (or plus $35 Virtus license renewal for athletes who already have eligibility).

Athletes Without Limits will collect and submit all US videos and will submit them to Virtus as the US Team. Video Entries for US athletes will be due to Athletes Without Limits by October 1st, 2020 so that they can be reviewed and officially submitted  prior to the final Virtus deadline of October 4th.

IMPORTANT: Please do not send your entry video or fees directly to Virtus via any Virtus website link — entries must be submitted by the a Virtus member (Athletes Without Limits in the US).
