New Event! AWL Trip to 2026 1st Virtus Pan Am Games (Mexico)

Virtus has confirmed that Mexico will host the 1st Virtus Pan Am Games for top athletes with Intellectual Disability, Down syndrome and Autism in the America’s region this November. Athletes will compete in Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo and Track & Field!

ABOUT THE EVENT:
We are excited to announce a new opportunity for U.S. athletes to compete as part of Athletes Without Limits US National Team at the 1st Virtus Pan Am Games. Virtus Mexico has created this event as an additional opportunity for athletes to compete Internationally following the cancellation of October Regionals by Virtus Peru earlier this year.  The event includes Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo and Track & Field competing at the same sports complex in Zinacantepec, Mexico and takes place over Thanksgiving Week from November 21-27, 2026.

Steps for Interested Athletes:

2. Complete our US Team Pan Am Games Interest Form by Sept 15, 2026 (Form goes live September 4th)
3. We’ll invite interested athletes to a Zoom informational meeting.
4. Teams will be selected and confirmed by the end of September.

ELIGIBILITY: In each of the four sports our goal is to have teams comprised of men & women from each of the three Virtus Competition Groups offered at this event:

• Virtus II1-Intellectual Disability (including Autism with ID)
• Virtus II2-Down Syndrome
• Virtus II3-Autism Open

VIRTUS STATUS: With the more limited timeline for this new event athletes who already have Virtus International Eligibility (or those with National able to confirm International before the event) who currently meet event qualifying standards in their sport are invited to apply. Athletes can check their eligibility status on our Eligibility Lists.

AGE: For international trips US Team members must be 16 or older and able to stay at the Team Hotel throughout the event week.

TRAVEL: Many athletes fly with their family though other flight arrangements can be discussed. All athletes then stay with staff and a teammate/roommate at the Team Hotel arranged by the Virtus Host Organization. Parents & Spectators stay in nearby hotels booked by their own arrangement and can meet up with athletes each day at the Venue.

VENUE: This event is unique with all four sports competing at the same Venue (The Juan Fernandez Albarrán Sports Complex, Stadium and Aquatic Center) which will be a great opportunity for US athletes, families and fans to meet and support each other across sports!
