Eligibility for New Golfers with Intellectual Impairment:

This event requires a WR4GD pass though EDGA.
EDGA requires players with an Intellectual Impairment to first confirm their Virtus International Level Eligibility. US Players can apply for Virtus eligibility through Athletes Without Limits (USA Virtus Member) from our Virtus Eligibility Application Page.

While Virtus events and some EDGA International Golf events are open to athletes in all three Virtus Eligibility Groups, this event, like the U.S. Adaptive Open and USDGA Ping Championships have chosen to follow Paralympic Classification. This means only athletes who meet the following three criteria are eligible:

  1. IQ of 75 or lower on WISC, WAIS or Stanford Binet (given within last 5 years*)
  2. At least one domain score of 70 or lower on an ABAS or Vineland Adaptive Behavior (given within the last 5 years*.)
  3. Age of onset before 22.

*Note that athletes with Down Syndrome who also provide their cytogenetic report showing Trisomy21 or Translocation can provide IQ and Adaptive reports from more than 5 years ago.

Not all athletes with Autism will meet the IQ and/or Adaptive criteria above – we encourage you to apply for your Virtus II3 Open Autism eligibility as there are some other events open to all Virtus groups.

To lean more and apply for eligibility visit our Golf page for “Three Steps to Become Eligible to Compete as a WR4GD World Ranked Player with Intellectual Impairment

*New players with intellectual impairment should apply to Athletes Without Limits as early as possible (at least 12 weeks prior to registration closing) to confirm International level Virtus eligibility in time to get your WR4GD Pass for an event. This is due to the time it takes for us to hear back confirmation from the Virtus International Eligibility Committee.
