Date & Location:
The USGA has announced that Sand Creek Station, in Newton, Kan., will be the host site of their 3rd U.S. Adaptive Open Championship, set to be held July 8-10, 2024.

New in 2024 Qualifying Events:
On January 18, 2024 the USGA announced they will adopt a qualifying model for the 2024 U.S. Adaptive Open similar to the model used for other major Championships. This is different from the U.S. Adaptive Open’s first two years, when the championship field was determined largely by Handicap Index®. Conducted over 18 holes, qualifiers will be held at six sites across the United States held between Apr. 15 and May 31, 2024. They will be administered by Allied Golf Associations. Specific sites and dates are below. See the USGA website for more details.
  • Tuesday, April 16
Cedar Crest Golf Course, Dallas, Texas
  • Wednesday, Apr. 17
Bobby Jones Golf Course (Magnolia Route), Atlanta, Ga.
  • Wednesday, Apr. 24
    Haworth Country Club, Haworth, N.J.
  • Monday, Apr. 29
Goose Creek Golf Club, Jurupa Valley, Calif.
  • Tuesday, May 7 (2)
Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club, Sarasota, Fla.
    Broadmoor Country Club, Indianapolis, Ind.

Registration for qualifying events on the USGA website opens February 22nd and closes April 10, 2024*.
*For athletes with intellectual impairment the deadline for new athletes to apply to Athletes Without Limits is February 10th to have enough time to confirm International level Virtus II1 eligibility in time for the event.

WHS Handicap Index:
For past years events athletes needed a WHS Handicap Index of 36.4 or less to apply to play in the U.S. Adaptive Open. As of January 2024 we have not yet confirmed whether or not this requirement must be met to enter a qualifying event or not, but it is recommended athletes obtain their WHS World Handicap Index if they don’t already have one.

WR4GD World Ranking Pass for Players with Intellectual Impairment:
A WR4GD Pass certifies eligibility to compete in the U.S. Adaptive Open Championship.  Players with Intellectual Impairment will need to start the process in the USA by completing the eligibility application below and following the instructions to applying for Virtus II1 International Eligibility. To see the current list of US Eligible Players with Intellectual Impairment visit our Golf Eligibility List.
Virtus II1 Eligiblity Criteria: Note the this event follows Paralympic Classification so only athletes who meet the three Virtus II1 Criteria for Intellectual & Developmental Disability are eligible:

1) IQ of 75 or lower, and
2) Vineland or ABAS Adaptive Behavior Assessment with at least one domain showing significant limitations, and
3) Onset before age 22.

How to Apply to Athletes Without Limits for Virtus Eligibility:
As it can take some time to apply for and receive a WR4GD Pass and Virtus II1  International Eligibility, players who have not already begun this process may not receive eligibility in time. In the USA, players with Intellectual Impairment who have not submitted completed applications to Athletes Without Limits two months prior to the event registration closing date (February 10th, 2024), may not receive Virtus II1 International Eligibility in time to have their entries accepted for this year’s championship.
