In 2025, in collaboration with Athletes Without Limits, the Huntsman Cup hosted by the National Ability Center was the first event of its kind in the U.S. to welcome high-performance skiers with intellectual impairments…

Held every winter (@ February) on Park City Mountain near Salt Lake City, this important event has helped adaptive athletes with physical and visual impairments prepare for future Paralympic Games for the past 37 years.

Athletes Without Limits is proud to have partnered with the National Ability Center to be the first of its kind in the US to also include high-performance skiers with intellectual disabilities, Down syndrome and autism — in 2025 nine members of Athletes Without Limits National Ski Team competed at the event with some standout performances.

The event is sanctioned by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) and (since 2024 through AWL partnership) is now sanctioned by Virtus, the global governing organization for elite athletes with intellectual disabilities. Athletes Without Limits has been the US Member of Virtus since 2009 helping to create opportunities for athletes to compete at the highest level in 13+ sports.

Learn More: Alpine and Nordic US Skiers with intellectual impairment who are interested in racing at the National and Virtus International level as part of Athletes Without Limits (the US Member Organization of Virtus) should contact us about exploring the eligibility criteria and upcoming opportunities and visit the Skiing page of our website.
