Mission Bay Park is the largest aquatic park of its kind in the US. It consists of over 4,235 acres in roughly equal parts land and water. Mission Bay boasts 27 miles of shoreline, 19 of which are sandy beaches with eight locations designated as official swimming areas.
Cross Country Course: Spectator-friendly European-style 2,000-meter grass loop along East Mission Bay Park. The course has been used for many past USATF National championships including the recent 2022 USATF Cross Country Championships presented by Toyota.
Average Course Width: 10 meters (with a few sections where the course briefly narrows to about 5 meters)
Terrain: First 1,000 meters of the loop is primarily flat and very fast. Second 1,000 meters includes a series of five small hills.
Location: The course is adjacent to the San Diego Mission Bay Resort along the south end of East Mission Bay Drive (aka the “Tecolote Shores” section of the park) and is Spectator Friendly.
Driving Directions: Take Interstate 5, exit at Sea World Drive and go west, turn right on East Mission Bay Drive, and drive approximately 1/3 mile to park.
Parking: On-site parking at the Mission Bay Course will be limited vehicles with displayed parking passes (meet officials, medical, media, etc.). Free Spectator and other parking is available at the northeast corner of East Mission Bay Drive & Sea World Drive. There is also parking along East Mission Bay Drive (be sure to back in or you may get ticketed!)
