Michael was the first athlete with intellectual disability to make the US Paralympic Team after the re-inclusion vote in 2010. He competed for Team USA in the 1500m at the London 2012 Paralympics and has trained at the US Paralympic Training Center.

A member of the both the Athletes Without Limits US Team and US Paralympic Team since 2011, Michael has competed many high level Paralympic and Inas events including:

• 2015 US Paralympics National Track & Field Championships (US Paralympic Team Member)
• 2015 Parapan Am Games in Toronto Canada (US Paralympic Team Member)
• 2015 IPC World Championships in Qatar Doha (US Paralympic Team Member)
• 2012 London Paralympics (US Paralympic Team USA Member)
• 2011 IPC World Championships in New Zealand (US Paralympic Team Member)
• 2011 Inas Global Games Italy (Athletes Without Limits US Team Member)
