Equestrian Results from 2023 Virtus Global Games & Spring Video Competitions

Congratulations to all the Virtus riders around the World who competed in the Spring 2023 Virtus Equestrian Video Competition. The first of two video competitions to take place in 2023. 2023 was also the first in-person Virtus event with Equestrian added to the sports contested at the 2023 Virtus Global Games in France. Three Athletes Without Limits National Team riders represented the United States proudly at the events.

June 2023 Virtus Global Games France Equestrian World Championships

Anna Beem and Madeline Woo (who qualified in a previous video competition) both advanced to compete in June as part of Athletes Without Limits US National team at the 2023 Virtus Global Games — where the first in-person Virtus Equestrian Event took place. This was Beem’s second trip to the Virtus Global Games having competed in swimming at the 2019 Brisbane Games.

Athletes Without Limits USA Equestrian Team riders were generously sponsored by Kerritts Equestrian Apparel who provided additional clothing and equipment needed for the event. The athletes were coached by Kristen Moreland and Meredith Stevens with assistance from Athletes Without Limit’s Dr. Sondra Marshall, a member of the Virtus Equestrian Committee and a National Eligibility Reviewer for Virtus.

For the FEI Grade lV Novice A – Performance Test both Woo and Beem took fourth place in their respective competition groups, with Woo riding in the Virtus II1 Competition Group for Intellectual Disability and Beem riding in the Virtus II3 Competition Group for athletes with Autism+.

For the FEI-Grade lV Intro B Test, Woo took 5th place in the II1 Group while Beem earned the US Team a bronze medal placing 3rd in the II3 group.

2023 Virtus Equestrian Video Competition (Round 1)

Two Athletes Without Limits US Riders, Kathryn Richards and Anna Beem, both multi-sport athletes and AWL leaders, participated earlier in the year in first Round of the annual Virtus Video competition. [Madeline Woo had already qualified for the Games during the Fall 2022 Video Competition.]

Katherine Richards competed in her third Virtus Equestrian Video competition having previously competed at Virtus Tennis World Championships.

For the FEI Grade lV Novice A – Performance Test Richards posted a score of 180.5 placing 8th in the Virtus II1 Competition Group for Intellectual Disability, while Beem took 1st place in the II3 competition group for athletes with Autism+ with a score of 185.5. Beem also competed in the FEI-Grade lV Intro B Test where she took 5th place with a score of 141.5.
