2011 IPC Athletics (Track & Field) World Championships

For the first time in a decade Paralympic Track & Field will be including a class for athletes with intellectual disability (called T20/F20) for the 1500m, shot put and long jump at the January 2011 IPC World Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Date: January 15-31, 2010

Location: Christchurch, New Zealand

Venue: QEII Park

Organized by: IPC Athletics (Track & Field) & Paralympics New Zealand

Qualification Standards for U.S. Athletes with Intellectual Disability:
US Paralympics has established the standards below for US Athletes. Athletes with intellectual disability must meet the “A” or “B” national team standards at the 2010 U.S. Paralympic National Championships to be considered and there may be other factors in determining who will ultimately make the US team for this event.

Registration: (NOW CLOSED) Athletes must compete at the June 2010 Paralympic Track & Field National Championship to compete in this event to qualify.

Athletes must work with Athletes Without Limits, US Inas Member, to become eligible and registered on the  INAS Master List and have an IPC Athletics License by October 2010 to participate (both are required for US National Team qualifying meets so athletes who are in contention for World slots will already have them).

Athletes may be required to attend classification upon arrival at the World Championships and all athletes are subject to observation in competition. Read the IPC Memo for the most up to date classification information.
