SUMMARY:2024 USDGA Golf Championships (Florida)
DESCRIPTION:Note that Athletes Without Limits only confirms Virtus eligibility for athlete with intellectual impairment seeking entry into this event and is not the host of this event. Please review the event website and reach out to USDGA for event questions other than Virtus eligibility as there may be additional qualifying requirements which can change from year to year. \nEvent Website:\nhttps://www.usdgagolf.org/united-states-disabled-open/\n\n\nDate & Location:\n\nThe USA Disabled Golf Association (USDGA) has announced that the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie\, Flor.\, will be the host of their 2024 Championship\, set to be held April 21-24\, 2024.  Requirements to enter include a WHS Handicap Index of 36. 4 or lower and a WR4GD pass. \n\nRead USDGA’s Announcement here.\n\nChanges in 2024:\nUSDGA noted that self-classification will no longer be an option for the 2024 event and all athletes must have their WR4GD pass to prior to entering. Registration will be open from December 1-January 17\, 2023. *This means the deadline for new athletes to apply to Athletes Without Limits is November 17th in order to confirm International level Virtus II1 eligibility in time for the event.\n\n\nWR4GD World Ranking Pass for Players with Intellectual Impairment:\nA WR4GD Pass certifies eligibility to compete in the U.S. Adaptive Open Championship.  Players with Intellectual Impairment will need to start the process in the USA by completing the eligibility application below and following the instructions to applying for Virtus II1 International Eligibility. To see the current list of US Eligible Players with Intellectual Impairment visit our Golf Eligibility List.\n\n\nVirtus II1 Eligibility Criteria: Note the this event follows Paralympic Classification so only athletes who meet the three Virtus II1 Criteria for Intellectual & Developmental Disability are eligible:\n1) IQ of 75 or lower\, and\n2) Vineland or ABAS Adaptive Behavior Assessment with at least one domain showing significant limitations\, and\n3) Onset before age 22. \n\n\nHow to Apply to Athletes Without Limits for Virtus Eligibility:\nAs it can take some time to apply for and receive a WR4GD Pass and Virtus II1  International Eligibility\, players who have not already begun this process may not receive eligibility in time. Players with Intellectual Impairment who have not submitted completed applications to Athletes Without Limits by November 17th\, 2023 (two months prior to the event registration closing date)  may not receive Virtus II1 International Eligibility in time to have their entries accepted for this year’s championship.\nApply for Virtus Eligibility\n\n\n\nHow to Apply for EDGA’s WR4GD World Ranking Player Pass:\nOnce the Virtus Eligibility Committee confirms your International eligibility athletes will be posted to the Virtus International Master List and assigned a unique Virtus Athlete Number. Athletes Without Limits will email this to you and our colleagues at EDGA so that you can then register with EDGA for a WR4GD pass on their website below.\nApply for WR4GD Pass\nHow to Obtain a World Handicap System (WHS) Handicap Index®:\nAthletes seeking opportunities should obtain a Handicap Index as this event requires a Handicap Index of 36.4 or lower.
