DESCRIPTION:Note that Athletes Without Limits only confirms Virtus II1-II2 eligibility for athletes with intellectual impairment seeking entry into this event and is not the host of this event. Please review the event website and reach out to USGA for event questions other than Virtus eligibility as there may be additional qualifying requirements which can change from year to year. \nU.S. Adaptive Open Event Website:\nhttps://championships.usga.org/usadaptiveopen.html\nhttps://championships.usga.org/usadaptiveopen/2025/articles/fast-facts-for-2025-us-adaptive-open.html \n\nDate & Location:\nThe USGA has announced that Woodmont Country Club in Rockville\, Maryland will again be the host site for the 2026 5th U.S. Adaptive Open July 6-8\, 2026. \n\nRead Woodmont Country Club’s Announcement\n\nQualifying Events:\nIn 2024 the USGA announced a new qualifying model for the U.S. Adaptive Open similar to the model used for other major Championships. (This is different from the U.S. Adaptive Open’s first two years\, when the championship field was determined largely by Handicap Index®.)\nConducted over 18 holes\, qualifiers will be held at multiple sites across the United States held in the Spring. They will be administered by Allied Golf Associations. Specific sites and dates are TBA. See the USGA website for more details.\n\nRegister on USGA Website:\n2026 event registration TBA (typically @ Feb-April)\nPlayers can register for a qualifying events for the U.S. Adaptive Open on the USGA website at the link below.\nRegister on USGA Website\nEligibility for New Golfers with Intellectual Impairment:\n \nNote this event follows Paralympic classification for Intellectual Disability so is only open to those with an IQ of 75 or lower (Virtus II1 & II2). This includes those with Autism if they have an IQ of 75 or lower (Autism with ID). \n*Athletes with ‘high functioning’ Autism (Virtus II-3 Autism without ID) are not eligible since their IQ is higher than 75.
