DESCRIPTION:Note that Athletes Without Limits provides Class S14 (Intellectual Impairment) National reviews for U.S. Paralympics for this event\, but is not otherwise involved in organizing U.S. Paralympics meets or team trips like we do for Virtus events. Interested athletes should complete eligibility with Athletes Without Limits\, but otherwise should register directly for Paralympic meets\, and travel with their home team/coach or individually to participate.\nTHE INFORMATION BELOW IS FOR SWIMMERS WITH\nINTELLECTUAL IMPAIRMENT (S14 Class) \nSanctioned by U.S. Paralympic Swimming \nThis is an International meet on US soil so full Virtus II1 International Level Eligibility is needed to compete in the S14 Class for Intellectual Disability. \nEvent Date: August 28-30\, 2026 \nEvent Location in US: To Be Announced \nEvent Webpage: https://www.usparaswimming.org/competitions \nRegistration: Swimmers should register directly with the event organizers (individually or as part of their home team) using the link on the event’s website. \nEligibility Criteria: Paralympic meets are open to swimmers with a physical impairment\, visual impairment\, or Class S14 intellectual impairment (Note that Class S14 is only open to athletes with Virtus II1 and II2 eligibility — Virtus II3 are not eligible for Paralympics). \nTime Standards: There may be time standards for some events\, check the meet packet PDF for details. (Typically events with “Open” in their name do not have qualification time standards.) \nClassification Deadline for New S14 Swimmers: Note that National classification ‘appointments’ offered at US Paralympics events are only for athletes with physical or visual impairment. Athletes with Intellectual Impairment should complete AWL-Virtus Eligibility Application and submit (along with photoID\, IQ and Adaptive Behavior assessments) to Athletes Without Limits at least 3 month prior to events like this that require full International level eligibility.\nAWL will inform U.S. Paralympics of new swimmers who have completed National S14 eligibility for Classification and when they’ve been confirmed Internationally. \nCriteria for Intellectual Impairment S14 Class: Athletes with Intellectual Impairment (Autism\, Down Syndrome & Intellectual Disability with IQ of 75 or lower) should complete Athletes Without Limits Virtus Eligiblity application in lieu of a classification appointment. Swimmers who meet the Virtus II1/Paralympic S14 eligibility criteria below are eligible to compete in Paralympic-sanctioned swim meets: \n\nIQ Assessment showing IQ of 75 or lower\,\nAdaptive Behavior Assessment showing significant limitation in at least one domain area\, and\nOnset before age 22\n\nSpecial note to swimmers with Autism: Athletes with Autism must have an IQ of 75 or lower to be eligible for Paralympic S14 swimming. This is different from AWL trips to Virtus-sanctioned meets\, which offer an additional competition group for those with Autism and an IQ of 76 or higher (called Virtus II3) – so we encourage you to apply for eligibility for Virtus events! \nSpecial note to swimmers with Down Syndrome: The Paralympic S14 class is only open to athletes who meet the Virtus II1 Criteria for Intellectual Disability\, which is based on IQ and Adaptive Scores. This is different from AWL trips to Virtus-sanctioned meets which offer a separate competition group specifically for athletes with Down Syndrome (called Virtus II2). Therefore swimmers with Down Syndrome should apply for dual eligibility in the Virtus II1 group (based on IQ and Adaptive Scores) in order to be classified for Paralympics swimming and the Virtus II2 group (based on Cytogenetic Report showing Down Syndrome) for Virtus events. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Virtus has confirmed that Mexico will host the 1st Virtus Pan Am Games for top athletes with Intellectual Disability\, Down syndrome and Autism in the America’s region this November. Athletes will compete in Swimming\, Table Tennis\, Taekwondo and Track & Field!\nABOUT THE EVENT:\nWe are excited to announce a new opportunity for U.S. athletes to compete as part of Athletes Without Limits US National Team at the 1st Virtus Pan Am Games. Virtus Mexico has created this event as an additional opportunity for athletes to compete Internationally following the cancellation of October Regionals by Virtus Peru earlier this year.  The event includes Swimming\, Table Tennis\, Taekwondo and Track & Field competing at the same sports complex in Zinacantepec\, Mexico and takes place over Thanksgiving Week from November 21-27\, 2026. \nSteps for Interested Athletes: \n\nDownload US Team Overview PDF w/Trip Costs & Qualifying Standards for Each Sport\nComplete our US Team Pan Am Games Interest Form by Sept 15\, 2026\n\nWe’ll invite interested athletes to a Zoom informational meeting.\nTeams will be selected and confirmed by the end of September.\nDownload PDF \n\nWe look forward to talking with athletes and families! \nELIGIBILITY: In each of the four sports our goal is to have teams comprised of men & women from each of the three Virtus Competition Groups offered at this event: \n\nVirtus II1-Intellectual Disability (including Autism with ID)\nVirtus II2-Down Syndrome\nVirtus II3-Autism Open\n\nVIRTUS STATUS: With the more limited timeline for this new event athletes who already have Virtus International Eligibility (or those with National able to confirm International before the event) who currently meet event qualifying standards in their sport are invited to apply. All athletes then stay with staff and a teammate/roommate at the Team Hotel arranged by the Virtus Host Organization. Parents & Spectators stay in nearby hotels booked by their own arrangement and can meet up with athletes each day at the Venue. \nVENUE: This event is unique with all four sports competing at the same Venue (The Juan Fernandez Albarrán Sports Complex\, Stadium and Aquatic Center) which will be a great opportunity for US athletes\, families and fans to meet and support each other across sports!

DESCRIPTION:The Boston Athletic Association (BAA) provides pathways for inclusion of runners with intellectual impairments in The Boston Marathon and other annual events. \n\nFOUR ANNUAL EVENTS OFFERED: \n \n\nBoston 5K (April 18\, 2026)\n\nBoston Marathon (April 20\, 2026)\n\nBoston 10k (Tentatively June 21\, 2026)\n\nBoston Half Marathon (TBA November 2026)\n\nTWO COMPETITION PATHWAYS FOR ATHLETES WITH INTELLECTUAL IMPAIRMENTS: \n\nT20 Paralympic Division (Virtus II1 or II2 National Eligibility)\nGeneral Adaptive Runner Program (Virtus II1\, II2 or II3 National Eligibility)\n\nWHO’S ELIGIBLE:  \n\nAthletes with National Virtus II1 or II2 eligibility can compete for prize money in the competitive Para T20 Class (without a guide runner and higher qualifying times) at this event\, or may choose to stay in Adaptive Runner Program (with a guide runner and lower qualifying times).\nAthletes with National Virtus II3-Higher Functioning Autism (who are not eligible for Para T20) can compete in the Adaptive Runner Program.\n\nABOUT THE T20 PARALYMPIC DIVISION: \nIn 2023 The Boston Athletic Association (BAA) made an important announcement when they added a competitive division for intellectual impairment which is open to Virtus II1/II2/T20 runners with National or International classification. \n\n\n\n\nTo be eligible for the Para T20 Class for Intellectual Impairment athletes must provide documentation showing they meet our Virtus II1/Paralympic criteria for Intellectual Disability below (this includes athletes with Down Syndrome in our Virtus II2 group since they also meet the ID criteria. This group also includes athletes with Autism if they also meet the ID criteria below):\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFull Scale IQ of 75 or lower on accepted IQ assessment WAIS\, WISC\, or Stanford Binet\, and\nAdaptive Behavior significant limitations (70 or lower in at least one domain area) on Vineland\, ABAS or AAMR scales\, and\nEvidence there was diagnosis of Intellectual Disability before age 22\n\nABOUT THE Virtus II3 GROUP FOR AUTISM:\nAthletes with a formal diagnosis of Autism who don’t meet the IQ and Adaptive criteria above compete at Athletes Without Limits and Virtus events in our unique II3 Autism group. Additionally\, the T20 Para Division offers complimentary entry to those who can meet the fastest T20 High Performance Time Standards. While the Adaptive Program for Runners offers slower qualifying times since it’s intention is to offer additional opportunities for participation.\nPRIZES: There prize money for the first three male and female finishers in the T20 Para events — while there is no prize money in the Adaptive Program which\, again\, is intended to provide additional participation opportunities.\nSUPPORT RUNNER: Support Runners are not permitted for athletes with Intellectual Impairment in the more competitive T20 Para Event which follows the same rules as the Paralympics. DESCRIPTION:Save the Date: 2027 Virtus Global Games\nAthletes Without Limits 2019 US Team at the Global Games in Australia \nTentative Event Dates:\nNovember 22 to December 5\, 2027 in Cairo\, Egypt\n \nAbout this Event:\nHeld every four years the Virtus Global Games is the World Championships for Athletes with Intellectual Impairment in 12+ summer sports listed below. More details will be posted as they are released by Virtus and the host country. \nAthletes Without Limits USA National Team Trip to 2027 Virtus Global Games:\nFollowing our last Global Games trip to France — which included 35 US athletes and 25 US staff competing in 6 sports — Athletes Without Limits plans to take US athletes who qualify for the event to the 2027 Games. Past multi-sport Virtus Global Games we’ve participated in include France (2023)\, Australia (2019)\, Ecuador (2015)\, Italy (2011) and the Czech Republic (2009). \nSports: \n\nBasketball* (Selected in partnership with The ARC Detroit Partnership)\nCycling*\nEquestrian*\nJudo\nKarate\nIndoor Rowing*\nSoccer/Futsal* (Selected in partnership with The Inspire Soccer League Partnership)\nSwimming (see 2025 Virtus Track & Field World Championships MQS to get an idea of standards)\nTable Tennis*\nTaekwondo\nTennis\nTrack & Field (see 2025 Virtus Track & Field World Championships MQS to get an idea of standards)\n\n*Whether the US fields athletes in some developing sports may depend on athlete interest\, staffing and viability. \nWho’s Eligible? \n\nTo be selected for Athletes Without Limits US National Teams competing at this event athletes must meet all of the following requirements:\n\nHave full Virtus II1\, II2\, II3 International Level Eligiblity\nMeet the minimum qualifying standards in their sport (during the qualification period) and/or be internationally competitive with level of event\nBe 16 or older and able to stay with the Teams & Coaches in a separate Team hotel during @10 day trip overseas.\nMost athletes fly to the event with their parents before moving into the Teams hotel — Parents arrange their own nearby accommodation if they attend as spectators.
