2024 U.S. Adaptive Open Golf Championships (Kansas)

July 8, 2024 - July 10, 2024

The USGA has announced that Sand Creek Station, in Newton, Kan., will be the host site of their 3rd U.S. Adaptive Open Championship, set to be held July 8-10, 2024. (Read the article here.)
Athletes with Intellectual Impairment (Autism, Down Syndrome or IDD with IQ of 75 or lower) should to apply to Athletes Without Limits to confirm Virtus II1 International level eligibility (needed to get a World WR4GD Player Pass from EDGA) prior to registering for the event.
Athletes must meet other entry criteria to be considered for selection including Handicap Index of 36.4 or less. Other requirements will be posted to the event website at: https://championships.usga.org/usadaptiveopen.html
Athletes Without Limits manages Virtus Eligibility/Paralympic Classification for players with Intellectual Impairment so they can apply for the required WR4GD player pass; the deadline for new players to apply to AWL for International Eligibility will likely be in April 2024 (in order to confirm International level Virtus II1 eligibility in time for the event registration deadline which has not yet been announced).
This event follows Paralympic Classification so only athletes who meet the three Virtus II1 Criteria for Intellectual & Developmental Disability are eligible:
  1. IQ of 75 or lower, and
  2. Vineland or ABAS Adaptive Behavior Assessment with at least one domain showing significant limitations, and
  3. Onset before age 22.
Note that Athletes Without Limits only confirms Virtus eligibility and is not the host of this event. Please review the event website and reach out to the USGA for event questions other than eligibility.
