Highlights:

Maria is ranked in the top 10 and top 20 in the world in many swim events following an impressive debut that included an 8th place finish in the long-course 800m freestyle and a 10th place finish in the 400m freestyle at the 2009 INAS-FID Global Games world swimming championships. Maria also participated in the 1,000m demonstration indoor rowing event while at the Global Games.

Maria was a member of the Bensalem High School Swim Team (a non-disabled team) from 2005-2009. In 2007 she received the Spirit Award and Trophy from Bensalem Aquatic Club Community Swim Team.

She also competes and has won numerous gold medals at Special Olympics Bucks County and Special Olympics State Championship events.
